Liked the Birding in the City Wild Event? How About a More Ambitious Outing?

ARRUF could take a trip to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in 2021 to see the spectacular and very rare Whooping Cranes. Mark Kulstad would likely be the leader for this tour. Probably we would take the special boat that virtually guarantees that one will see the cranes (though the cost is not insignificant). Interested parties could add on a land tour of Aransas NWR with Mark Kulstad (no cost) – or do only that. (The Whooping Cranes are only present in the winter, so January, February or the first half of March are recommended. FYI: There is a Whooping Crane Festival in Port Aransas, with a boat trip for $55 (2020 price) – and perhaps an additional $25 registration fee for the festival. See https://www.whoopingcranefestival.org/event/field-trip-whooping-crane-boat-tour-20-2020-10am/ to learn more about this events connected to this possible trip.
