ARRUF Members Invited to Be US Friends of International Graduate Students

Many ARRUF members have collaborated on international projects or have lived and traveled abroad. Now it's our turn to help international colleagues adjust to OUR university.

Read the OISS LETTER OF INVITATION HERE.

Explore the opportunity to participate in ARRUF's collaboration with the Office of International Students and Scholars Friendship Program. Did you know that over a quarter of Rice students this fall will be international students--a rich context for learning and new friendships? Perhaps you and a friend might be partners in mentoring a student or scholar from abroad. The new ARRUF home at 412 Fondren will be available for your meetings with scholars and students.

A special one-hour orientation session will be arranged for ARRUF colleagues at 11 a.m. on August 28th in Fondren 412. Or, choose one of the other OISS sessions in July, August, or September).

There are only four steps to becoming a friend:

1. Fill out the U.S. Friend Application n the OISS website;

2. Attend the one-hour orientation training;

3. Meet your new colleague at the September "Meet and Greet Dinner," and

4. Get together with your student or scholar three or four times for coffee, a meal, or conversation over the next six months.

So simple and so rewarding.

Please send an e-mail to Viqui Arbizu at va1@rice.edu or go to the OISS.rice.edu site to fill out a U. S. Friend Application so that OISS can plan for the number of people attending the orientation.
