This Friday it's time to tell all: What book did you read in 2019 that you found especially shocking, compelling, or insightful? Was it a volume on politics, scientific discovery, travel, or arts?
Usually, on the third Friday of each month we gather for wine and nibbles and listen to one of our members talk about book(s) that he or she loves, especially ones that have been influential in his or her scholarship or discoveries. The group then takes up the themes and discusses books from their own lives that have influenced or intruigued them. This month, we're stepping up to rate the best reads. In December, we're departing from our usual format: we'll read aloud Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory (copies supplied), a short but heartwarming memoir.
All our sessions are fascinating; the discussions fluid. Join us in Fondren 412. 3 p.m.
